8 Things To Do During a 10 Hour Layover at Singapore Changi Airport

I don’t expect this will be my only post of pastimes in Singapore Changi Airport during a layover but this was certainly the most time I’ve spent there thus far. My husband and I made a list of 8 things we wanted to do/ see before we arrived which helped a lot. So if you can’t find the time to make a list or find yourself on an unexpectedly long layover this post should make things a little easier for you.

Walk on the Pond at Dreamscape in T2

True to it’s name this dreamlike patch of tranquility is something you’ll very likely stumble across during a walk around Terminal 2. You can walk across the indoor pond and watch the fish swim below your feet through the crystal clear water. And if you turn your gaze upward you’ll see a digital sky with fluffy clouds. A great spot to snap some pictures and sort of just zone-out for a bit.

Try Some Food From the Many Restaurants in T2

I wish I could remember the name of this restaurant or even the food we ordered because, oh-my-gosh was it delicious🤤. I actually cannot even think about it too much without getting truly sad that I can’t immediately eat it again.

All I know is that one plate had spring rolls and one had chicken. The spring rolls had a fresh lemon flavour to them and I honestly have no idea what the rest of the filling was but it was one of the most delicious things I’ve ever tasted. As for the chicken, totally contrasting flavours but just as incredible. There were definitely a variety of spices used and what ever that sauce was, damn was it good!

I know this isn’t all that helpful but I guess the main point is that you should try food that doesn’t seem like something you’d find just anywhere.

Spend Time in the Sunflower Garden in T2

Since Singapore is a summer-all-year kind of place the Sunflower Garden is always blooming. This is a fun spot for some pretty pictures and up close time with the sunflowers. Singapore is usually very humid so we didn’t spend too long out here but still glad we made the stop.

Play in the Fit & Fun Zone in T2

Located just above the Dreamscape and next to the Sunflower Garden is the Fit & Fun Zone. There were mostly kids there when we stopped by but that doesn’t mean grownups can’t have fun too☺️. There are swings, mini trampolines and other little fun obstacles to help burn off some energy and kill time. It’s also a great spot to check out the Dreamscape from above.

Get Some Coffee From Bacha Coffee in T3

We spent a fair amount of time smelling all the different coffee choices at the giant Bacha Coffee store in Terminal 3. We’re both coffee lovers so this was a particularly exciting stop for us. We ended up buying the Mount Kenya coffee which we’re currently still savouring.

There are a lot of smaller Bacha Coffee stores throughout the other terminals but I’m fairly certain this was the biggest one we saw.

Get Real Close With Butterflies at The Butterfly Garden in T3

Now this Garden was really cool! I must admit I was hesitant to head here. I imagined a swarm of butterflies surrounding me with that creepy sound of flapping wings all over the place, but it wasn’t anything like that. There were far less butterflies than I expected but in a good way. You definitely will get to see some close up but you won’t feel like they’re all around you. Again, outdoor things are quite humid so we didn’t stick around too long.

Watch a Movie at the Free Movie Theatre in T3

We didn’t stay to watch any movies but it was cool to know there’s a whole movie theatre with free movies being shown all day and night. The cinema itself looked pretty comfortable too.

Ride the Train Through The Jewel to See The Vortex

This was a tricky one to figure out because we knew The Vortex was in The Jewel, we just didn’t know how to get there without leaving the airport. Eventually we figured out that you have to take the train from Terminal 3B to Terminal 2E. That’s the only route where the train passes through The Jewel itself and you can see The Vortex (on your left). Definitely a must-see, it’s quite surreal.

We did also get in a few hours of nap time and device charging at the Snooze Lounge so this list really helped us make good use of our 10 hour layover. There’s still a lot more to see and experience at Changi Airport so make sure you subscribe to my newsletters for those details when I’ll be travelling again in a few months.
