It’s simple; a screen is set above the musicians so you quite literally watch the movie while all the scoring is done live and to a far fuller effect. At first it seems as if your just hearing the audio of the movie as usual. But as scenes intensify and drama builds your eyes can’t help but flicker back and forth from the screen to the stage as you try to fully immerse yourself in the energy of the conductor and the musicians while reading the emotions if the characters on screen. It’s phenomenal!
I booked our tickets about a month before the show and there were plenty of seats available so you don’t need to make a mad rush on these. As for which seats to get, I’d recommend the R Seats. They are more expensive but you’re guaranteed to not have any part of the screen cut off. We chose S Seats on the first floor which were really good but the speakers did block off a tiny strip of the screen.
The next concert (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1) will be happening from Fri 24 Oct 2025 to Sun 26 Oct 2025; 2 showings on Saturday and 1 for Friday and Sunday at Sejong Center for the Performing Arts.
There was one moment that forever changed my love for the wizarding world.
The movie we watched was Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince which, for those in the know, is an emotionally intense one. In the last few moments we witness Professor Dumbledore die at the hands of Professor Snape. I’ve watched this moment one too many times and sat with a box of tissues as I read through it. But in that theatre I was transported to the grounds of Hogwarts with everyone else and had the opportunity to hold up my wand as we mourned him together.
It was experience I never knew I needed. I’m certain any Harry Potter fan would love this but for those who read the books, it does hit different.
But…whether you’re a movie fanatic, a lover of classical music or someone who simply relishes the feeling of being immersed in a captivating story this is a performance you don’t wanna miss.
It’s kind of crazy how invested we can get into fictional worlds and characters. So much so that given the right circumstances we can easily become immersed in them and just for those few moments, nothing else matters. That was my take away from the Harry Potter In Concert experience.
